RESTRAINT: MORAL-VALUE ASPECTS

Abstract

The author tries to consider the topic of restraint, understanding by this phenomen rhe will directed by the subject to a significant for him activity, and concentration of attention, opposed to distracing external influences, as well as thoughts and feelings that lead astray. Existimg philosophical dictionaries interpret the concept of restraint rather sparingly. At the same time, the author insists on its multi-perspective relevance. Since in the unfolding considerations the emphasis is placed on the moral and value aspects of the phenomenon in question, the article presents it structurally: who, where, what he tries to do, what he tries to resist, what are his experiences, consideration of what is happening, efforts, result, and finally relationship to the result obtained.  After briefly characterising these components, the author concludes that whenever human restraint becomes relevant, it is not only individuals but also interpersonal relationships that are put to the test. it is mutually respectful, humane, just relationships that are created through restraint, objectivity, sobriety, foresight.
