Features of attention development in students with disabilities engaged in adaptive games
Abstract
Development of cognitive processes when students with disabilities enter the university is an extremely important and urgent task. Assistance in development and improvement of one’s own intellectual system largely depends on the created favorable conditions for obtaining higher education, as well as psychophysical characteristics, individual capabilities and health status. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of adaptive board sports games on the assessment of attention properties in boys and girls with disabilities. The study involved 20 students with health disorders, belonging to a special medical group (group B), who are engaged in adaptive games in elective physical education courses. The study of attention was carried out using the computer complex “NS-PsychoTest”. The results of the study showed that the stability of attention in boys during the period of game practice was higher in comparison with the indicators of girls, whose data were below the norm. No reliable differences in concentration of attention in the study groups were revealed, the results obtained were within the normal range. The indicators of reaction stability and the level of functional capabilities according to the criterion of T.D. Loskutova were also higher in boys. It can be assumed that the greatest interest in the game practice of adaptive games is shown by young men who give the greatest preference to adaptive games in order to achieve better results and victories. University administrations need to provide accessible conditions for adaptive physical education and sports for students with disabilities.
